Vehicle Maintenance Technician

About the position

Position Overview:
Technicians are responsible for performing vehicle repairs and maintenance in accordance with factory standards, focusing on quality workmanship and customer service excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned repair and maintenance tasks with efficiency and high quality.

  • Review work orders, follow instructions, and complete all tasks in a timely manner.

  • Use and maintain company-issued tools in a safe and functional condition.

  • Communicate with parts personnel to obtain required components.

  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify additional service or safety needs and report findings.

  • Accurately track time and materials for each job using the designated system.

  • Write clear and concise job stories using the “Concern, Cause, Correction” (3C) method.

  • Complete documentation and recordkeeping in accordance with policy.

  • Respond to road service calls as needed (if qualified), performing on-site diagnostics and repairs.

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.

  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and use of PPE.

  • Assist with new vehicle deliveries, monthly safety inspections, and general facility upkeep.

  • Maintain relevant industry certifications and attend required training.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Minimum 50% Technician Performance Efficiency

  • Certification Maintenance

  • Less than 2.0% comeback rate

  • Completion of all required training

  • Adherence to company safety and conduct policies

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities

  • May assist in training and development of junior technicians

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a shop environment with exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and varying temperatures.

  • Must be able to work in a high-noise environment.

  • Occasional travel or field service may be required.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday

  • Operational hours between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM

  • May include overtime and occasional weekend shifts

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • EPA 609 Certification

  • Completion of a technician certification or training program

  • Wheelchair lift inspection training (Braun and/or Ricon preferred)

Preferred:

  • Technical trade school diploma or certification

  • 2+ years of experience in heavy-duty vehicle or fleet maintenance

  • 1+ year of electrical systems diagnosis and repair
